Funimation recastings for DBK

While Adam trudges through the snow on his way back to Dallas, I’ll
give you the skinny on what was announced over at Katsucon with just a
tad more info also.
FUNimation Entertainment Announces English Dub Cast of Dragon Ball Z Kai
Reprising their roles from Dragon Ball Z:


Goku – Sean Schemmel

Vegeta and Piccolo – Christopher R. Sabat

Raditz – Justin Cook

Master Roshi – Mike McFarland

Tien – John Burgmeier

Ox King – Kyle Hebert

Chi-Chi – Cynthia Cranz

Nappa – Phil Parsons

Also returning are Linda Chambers Young as Frieza and Sonny Strait as Krillin and Bardock.
Joining the cast:

Gohan – Colleen Clinkenbeard

Bulma – Monica Rial

Narrator – Doc Morgan

Chiaotzu and Puar – Brina Palencia

FUNimation Entertainment will begin releasing the series on DVD and Blu-ray starting with Part One on May 18, 2010.

So there you have it. Sean is coming back as Goku, but Gohan's voice will be different. His voice will be the same actor who voiced the red-haired nun from Trinity Blood (so no more 'Oough! grunts every second from Gohan, lol). Bulma's voice will be different as well (actor who played 'Coco' from Broly-Second Coming if you remember.I have no idea who the other two new actors are. Also King Kai will have a different voice as well. As much as I got laughs out of the Funi and Ocean version of King Kai's voice with the overemphasis on the 'B' sound, it'd be nice to hear him sound more like the Japanese version.

Maybe these recasting will work out for the better? We have no way of telling yet.

Not saying that. It's just that narrator man...that fucking narrator!

I'm not really sure what to make of all this. I'm glad that Sean is coming back as Goku, nobody at Funimation could pull off that voice he made for Goku. I was worried that Sabat was gonna do all the roles himself this time; he already does like 98% of the characters already! ^___^

One I'm particularly interested in is Colleen as Gohan. While I didn't hate Steph' as the voice of Gohan, I just felt he sounded WAY too old with that voice at 4 years old. Saffron Henderson nailed the voice of Gohan in the Ocean Dub.

I also wonder if Funi will keep Eric Vale as Trunks, he WAS Trunks to me.

But yeah, I'm interested to see what this new dub will be like.

Maybe. Who knows.

Seeing as DBK is gonna be the new running series, I'd say the games will go to match that instead of the original.

I think they'll keep the cast the for the games the same as Kai if its successful enough.

Here's something I thought was stupid: Funimation is calling it Dragon Ball Z Kai instead of Dragon Ball Kai.

A little too many add-ons to the title if you ask me, like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

I would had loved if Spike Spencer voiced Goku or Krillin.

Spike Spencer was great as Akito!

And why do I see Fox trying to trick people *again* in the near future by re-releasing Dragonball Evolution AGAIN only with the title "Dragonball Evolution Z Kai Edition"?

I kind of doubt they'll be making another new issue of that movie. It'll probably be on network TV by the end of this year if not early next year.

DBK (or DBZK as Funi is gonna call it) means Dragon Ball Kai. It's the anime version of Dragon Ball Z, except it's truer to the manga with less filler. That's as much as I've known.
