Which did you prefer; Ocean Dub or Funimation dub of DBZ?

And you hafta post reasons!

I personally preffered the Ocean voices more. They sounded more natural and fit the characters more. Lets compare the kids first;

Gohan -
In the Ocean Dub, Saffron Henderson voiced Gohan and she did an amazing job. She made Gohan sound like a kid unlike Stephanie Nadolny. Nadolny made Gohan sound like a 4 year old chain smoker. Its just getting increasingly hard to accept his voice when he sounds like that. Unfortunately in the Ocean dub, when Goku and Gohan were in the Room of Spirit and Time, Gohan got a new voice. I can't remember her name, but she just sounded really out of place for him. This voice lasted until Gohan became a teenager in the Buu Saga. Gohan's second kid voice actress became the new voice of Goten and Gohan was now voiced by Brad Swaile. Brad was fantastic, because he sounded like a teenager! Unlike Kyle Herbert who sounded like a fully grown man doing a surfer dude-esque accent.

Goten and Kid Trunks -
Ocean Dub wins no question. Full stop. As mentioned above, Gohan's second Ocean actress became Goten's and that rols suited her MUCH more. That voice just clicked instantly, unlike his Funi voice done by Kara Edwards. Kara sounded like a girl trying too hard to do a little boy's voice and it showed. The Ocean dub girl made him sound like a little boy perfectly. Next we have Kid Trunks, oh my god, I don't know what Laura Baily was doing, but she made Trunks sound like a kid that had smoked since birth. His Funi voice REALLY grates on my ears unlike the Ocean dub version. Like Goten, Trunks' Ocean voice was incredible (I can't remember her name either, sorry!!)! He sounded like a cocky young boy. His voice sounded natural. Thing is, I've heard Laura Baily's real voice, why couldn't she just have spoke more naturally? All in all, Funi Trunks and Goten grate, but the Ocean versions are great!

Vegeta -
Ocean! Brian Drummond was, is and always will be Vegeta for me. Whereas Brian had this cool evil sounding voice, Sabat sounded like just another chain smoker that had seen too many movies. Drummond took lines and made them his own, who could forget "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!!! YOU WON'T ESCAPE..... MYYYY WRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" god, that gives me chills. It was funny to hear early Vegeta by Sabat, who was trying to do an impression of Drummond before he started thinking "Right, this isn't working, I'll do my own voice for Vegeta!". So, sorry Sabat, but Drummond wins this one!

Piccolo -
Hmmm... Scott Mcneil or Chris Sabat? Mcneil takes the cake and doesn't offer Sabat one slice! Mcneil owned the role of the strongest Namekian, he brought us this voice that sounded natural, yet strong and mysterious. Sabat on the other hand sounded like a generic tough guy with a deep voice. One thing that irritates me is how much Sabat's Piccolo and Vegeta can sound alike; I encountered many lines in Raging Blast where I thought I heard Piccolo speaking and looked up only to see it was Vegeta. I've got nothing more to really say other than Scott was the best Piccolo.

Future Trunks -
Ocean wins again, nah just kidding, Funimation wins for a change. Eric Vale was the first English Future Trunks anyone ever heard and he was great as the voice. His voice contained a sort of torment balanced out with a cool guy tone that suited the future warrior well. Ocean casted some guy (I can't remember his name right now) who sounded very weird. He sounded way too old, his voice was way too deep and... and... and... um, er... yeah! Funi wins!

Funimation.

It's what I grew up watching, it's the version I always watch. It's what I've gotten to know.

OCEAN! brian drummond and Scott mcneil were stinkin awesome. Everybody else was perfect EXCEPT 4 like when it goes in2 Trunks and Buu...some of the Funi voices were better. But Ocean was wayyyyyy better.

Listened to a few dub comparisons, I'm not all to big a of Ocean's voice for Krillin (I forget the spelling, sorry), and I don't like Cell's voice either.

Vegeta is good, I'll admit them that. Funi I find does a better voice, but I think Ocean vegeta expresses the emotions better. I'll call them even.

I find Funi Goku is also better then Ocean.

So 3 wins for Funi and a tie, I think I need not continue.

uh, I dunno, I grew up with the funi dub, and I think everyone always is partial to what they know first.
and I just like the vegeta better on funi dub...don't kill me! I is love the Chris Sabat <3

I preferred Ocean Dub voices(not all but majority especially Vegeta) but I preferred FUNimation music(although Ocean music was awesome too)
And I also preferred Ocean Dub opening "Rock The Dragon". Well actually it was made by two producers who also made the opening theme for the Power Rangers series Shuky Levy and Kussa Mahehi.
