so what ur sayin is... u dont kno shit about rap? well if thats the case i can understand why you only like one guy who is one of the few guys who have ever been famous for actually being a good rapper. whats funny about eminiem is that he used to be underground, but then he came out with "My Name Is" and made a video for it. im guessing the only rappers u kno are 50 cent and lil wayne, and doubt u even have the right view of things to appreciate the grittiness of some rappers, and probably dont kno enough about a minority culture to understand a lot of what is said in songs. its ok, cant blame somebody for being uneducated.

Yeah, I agree with that, that's how it should be, to me that is the ultimate form of music.
But I don't understand some of the "musicians" in my country who are proud that they are underground and criticize the mainstream but in the same time they are also uncreative, at least to me they are just creating noise not music. I sense no melody.
If I were a musician, I would always try to improve my skills...it's not about the fame, but I would like to create something in which a lot of people can enjoy (me in the first place of course).
Vivaldi (you can take some other classical composer) created some good music, music popular for that time, but he will always be respected.

1.don't like rap/hip hop at all...it just simply irritates my ears as well as my eyes when I see their gesticulation in the music videos(NOW PLEASE! nothing bad, I didn't say that all rappers are doing bad and that they all are narco and prostitute dealers, and I perfectly respect people who listen to some old hip hop that actually have some point...not that 50 cent and to him similar...)

2.I personally don't even consider it as a music(now again! - this is not disrespect for those who listen it, I am just honestly saying that I can't find a BIT of art in it, just as someone else can't find a bit of art in something that I listen and so on...its a matter of tastes.)

3.It always grinded my nerves, that naive parents actually flame some aggressive heavy bands for being aggressive for spreading the negative energy...while nobody actually watched any interviews or such, where majority of them says something similar to what this one very heavy band said:
"Do you really freakin think that I or anyone else from our crew wanna kill somebody?!?!

AND IN THE SAME TIME, those parents are leaving out much more popular hip hop music, and their music videos that are OBVIOUSLY TRUE and what they sing/do there, they actually DO in a real life without a joke! and are admitting it proudly...like that 50 cent for being a P.I.M.P. and nobody giving a damn about it even though its forbidden by the law and such.
Now this all is referred to todays majority of mainstream rap/hip hop

Oh, but that is not true. Whenever you watch a documentary about the shooting in some school, or something else that ended up in a couple kids getting arrested you can see the parents of those kids saying:"I don't know why he did it, I tried to be a good role model...I didn't let him listen to rap music...or to wear baggy pants or his hat tilted to the side..."

for one, listnening to any kind of music doesnt force u to do anything and it doesnt impose any kind of behavior.

sidebar: music is mostly about mood, if ur in the mood to hear something that just makes u feel good, in terms of rap music, itll be something that has excellent flow or wordplay or just listening to someone go from topic to topic making connections about each topic to the other that you may not have thought about before, even if its simple and asinine

heres something else i have a problem with. ur saying that old school rap music has a bit of art in it but todays music doesnt. i can understand u saying that songs with the same topics that lack different perspectives or ways of displaying those perspectives are annoying or just plain wack, but i doubt that u do listen to the songs that do have those things in it, which is what music is all about anyway, saying something differently or making something obvious about it that wasnt obvious before. now for the music that does have the same topic but has those things in it, as soon as u heard any implications towards drugs or breaking laws u stopped listening, when theres probably a good reason, expressed in the song, that it was said.

about not seeing it as an artform, thats bullshit. anything creative is art, everything creative is art, now if its something thats not creative i can understand u saying its not art (i.e. that redundant bullcrap u were talking about), but to say that a whole genre of music that has its own other sects and forms of itself isnt art is ignorant. if you've heard something but u havent taken the time to look for something better (in this case rap music), that makes u ignorant, you've ignored the good and specifically targeted the crap without taking the time to educate urself on the subject.

like i said, its hard to defend, just like anything, i can only make examples of why shit is the way it is... and heres one now:
an artist may be talking about selling drugs or having no respect for women and seeing them not as people but tools that are only useful for certain things, but he may be just talking about his environment, not what hes doing or what he views as right or good or whatever. its simply a release of how he/she feels about that subject, which may go deeper than it seems at first, you have to listen to how he/she says it and what they relate it too.
