Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
Felix Ip an Creative Director of Imagi Animation Studios who is working on the new Astro Boy the animated CG movie said he doesn't like the movie!
Source: http://felixip.blogspot.com/
My comment: Yatta people! this seems like extremely good news he said it ALL PERFECTLY!

I felt something wrong with the movie "Dragonball Evolution" when i saw the first trailer. I told myself to watch it... after i heard more and more feedback from friends, i decide not to waste money and time to see that. For what i saw, that's 100% not DragonBall at all. The character, the world set up, the tone, the design, the fighting style etc. all are way "OFF"!! 100% around me think the same... It doesn't work for Asian audience, maybe it works for US. But after i checked the bad boxoffice, it showed that neither US audience doesn't like it... I don't undertsand why FOX set up the movie like this.

Not only that he also said.....
Or any fanmade base like Untitled dreams (the ones responsible for this effect)
Oh well.....
Fans recommended FOX people if they're still thinking about a sequel to the poor flick they released, pleass ask Funglisoft for consulting, I bet they could radically improve thier understanding of Dragonbal! Or even better: actually should outsource the production of the next DB movie to them!

I don´t think any person that works in the comic or animation buissnes and knows anything about dragonball would like this movie.

To me its even more funny how people don't realize how actually ULTRA EASY is to make Kamehameha effect and such...how its actually simple to make our own fan video which would of course look billion times better than anything from DBE...
But on the other hand, to make people from real life look like DBZ characters is something pretty impossible without CGI or at least some masks IMO.

Yeah, he did say it perfectly. Glad to hear him say he didn't waste his money on it either. Most of FOX's recent movies are bad. Really bad.

Re: Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
this is where i disagree with everybody, i dont think goku has to look exactly like goku for him to play the part of goku well. i also dont think the characters need to look exactly like the do in the anime anyway. is there any comic movie where the characters look how you'd imagine? barely, i'd say gambit is the closest they've ever been. well actually, im wrong there, cuz they did do a pretty damn good job of that in watchmen, but watchmen also has a realistic illustration style, anime and manga doesnt have a true-to-life illustration style.VEGETA_DTX wrote:But on the other hand, to make people from real life look like DBZ characters is something pretty impossible without CGI or at least some masks IMO.
but i digress, DID YOU SEE THE FAN FLICK ON THERE!? that shit was awesome, as soon as i saw 17 and gohan fighting hand to hand i was like WOW! they did a pretty good job, even tho those french bastards dont kno how to make a punch look NOT weak, seriously i dont think any of them have ever been in a fight in their lives. regardless they did do a good job and i was excited to watch the whole thing.

And really, even if the hair wasn't like the real one, we would know by Goku's action it's Goku.

^yea, and how he acts, cmon who could confuse gokus aloofness and fighting spirit for anybody else?
im sayin tho, do they really need to look perfect, exactly like who theyre supposed to be, for the movie to be awesome? really, did anyone watch that clip from that webpage (the link thats there)? the action was almost perfect. besides that, the effects were pretty good too. *much more to say*
i feel like im repeating myself...

Re: Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
Yes I agree, it didn´t need to look exactly the same, capture the essence of the characters not necesarily their look completly.
actually it would have been good to see an interesting cinematic interpretation of this characters.
I know Vegeta hates the idea of a live action, but i hope after this the rigths would revert to the original owners and that some day someone would do a good live action or cgi dragonball movie, compleatly forgetting about Evolution.
It is very common to see rebots like this, just forget the bad movies before and start anew, like Dark Knight or Star trek.

Re: Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
lol... No, im 22!! But that is the point!! I serioulsly doubt that FOX is going to give up the DB rights.. DBE make at least 55 millions... they win 5000000... plus, they own the DB name, and DB is popular like hell..lol (its a lot of money to explore)!! they do not care if we like the movie or not, they just want to make money.. so they transform DB into a pop teen drama.. nowadays that is the kind of stuff that is popular, its the people mentality !! The fans like us do not like to see DB associate to that bullshit, but the other people do not care... they just want teen movies and see "pichi pichi" girls in the screens!!! Movies are no longer = art!! Movies are equal to sex, naked girls, teen drama and stupid cliche jokes...
that is why i said we have to wait a lot of years... because mentalities need a lot of time to change!!

Re: Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
Even if FOX owns the franchise it may asign a better team to do a future movie, and compleatly ignore what they did before.
and lets not forget that probably this rights don´t apply to asia, so someone like stepehn chow may end up making a good db movie some time in the future
and rights go back to their original owners really fast this years specially when the party who has the rights makes a flop like this.
so there are many possibilites, i still have hope that one day a good dragonball movie will come out
and that we will be there to see it.
and naked pichi pichi girls would always be good, just dont call it dragonball jajajaja

Re: Director of Imagi Animation dislikes DBE!
Just look at batman in a realtively short time it has gone from that fucking movie with george clooney and the nipples to the masterpiece that is The Dark Knight.
from a piece of crap to a piece of art
so it can happen
and dark knight made way more money than any other batman movie ever, even the first one.
so they just need to see this picture, a good movie gets more money and gets critical acclaim and everyone loves them.
a bad movie, may get money compared to the little investment they made, but is a dead end, cause no one will buy the dvd much less the blue ray, or the merchandise and all that crap and it does not give you the chance to expand the franchise.
Im sure if DBE did quite badly, a sequel would do abyssmaly bad, and if they even do a third one it would have to be straight to video.
So id they want to make money better smart up and let good people do a good movie.
