I just read Sho-shan y la Dama Oscura
Well I just finished reading the book Sho-san y la Dama Oscura (Sho-shan and the Dark Lady) which is considered the first novel with manga and anime influence for the Spanish language.
The author is Miss. Eve Gil, who has done other books but this is her first time working with something of anime-manga influence.
This is the book:
The story is a narration of Violeta, who is just becoming a succesful mangaka in Japan despite being a gaijin, who tells of her life with his family when they lived in Mexico.
Back when she was 11, she lived with her family who consted of her; her mother Dama (Lady), her father and her sister Lu. Now, Dama gave japanese nicknames to her daughters, Violeta was known as Murasaki and Luisa as Cho.
Luisa suffers of Asperger Syndrome, which makes her look authistic and even dangerous and feared by others outside her family. All hell breaks loose when Luisa kills one his classmates (Luisa is 4 years old, as well as her dead classmate), and the family of the dead child and the police want to place her in jail or at least her mother. And that's when all the weird things happen in a clash of reality and fantasy.
Some of the themes it deals in the book is just that Mexico is such a terrible place. The judicial system is corrupt in which only those "with power win," people here in Mexico have a very negative view of Japan and its customs (like that japanese religion and culture are satanic); how the police are crooked, among many others.
I won't give any spoilers (unless you ask me) but of course knowing that at the start of the story Violeta is already in Japan; we could say that she is already in Heaven, compared to Mexico which is Hell. The ending is bitter for me as I have no idea what to make of it.
