It's been a while since I've watch Tenchi, and I need some sources
When did Tenchi get stated to be God level, and wasn't there an instance of him BEATING God.

TENCHI MUYO FAN TO THE RESCUE! U should watch Tenchi Muyo, it's like the best anime ever.
It depends on what you mean by god level. He was assumed to be a normal human, till Little Washu revealed his latent ability to summon the Light Hawk Wings. After manifesting LHW he was one of the most powerful beings in his universe, although he still had to compete with some of the stronger cosmic tier beings.
As for "Beating" god..he did technically. Since The Choushin's were God's, they were night omnipotent. They were not true omnipotents. So if you mean when he got Omnipotent, and all that jazz it was when he was revealed to be Kami Tenchi, and that his "alien hybrid" form was simply an avatar of sorts..for him to live in the normal world.
He was able to easily surpass the Choushin, the original "gods". Then he also defeated the Counter actor the one who was nigh omnipotent, and causes the end of the universe. But as Kami Tenchi he was God, and managed to overcome any threats with a mere thought.
Of course this was only in the original series. The next series severely altered Tenchi's level of power.

ahh I remember that show <3
used to watch it when i was but a wee tot, and it was on before sailor moon or dragon ball or something. I used to run around the house pretend I was Sami and Tenchi was there and I loved him and I'd pretend to have tea parties with him <3
