Well I think I'm faaaar faaaar away from that life era so I can't tell anything about it for sure 
but I still think that this poster is not telling the truth really People like to joke about it lately pretty often, but then again simple logic says - why would they still be married if they disliked it?
I'd say its just another stereotypical joke, nothing serious really, at least in most cases
