The King of Fighters movie... yes, Hollyweird

The story is a complete mess. It tells that the Yagami, Kusanagi and Kagura families have to travel to universes and beat their champions while escaping from an evil force...

That has nothing to do with the actual stories of the KOF universe, because as I say; it is a universe, not various like this craptacular movie states.

Really, a sad age for us fans of japanese franchises.

When will Hollywood ever learn?

Well KOF and most of the games made by its company (SNK) aren't well known in the USA; but yes in Latin America and Europe. I may give you the insight story on the SNK verse later.

Well, I don't know much about SNK other than the Capcom vs SNK arcade game, lol.

I've played that game and followed the series from tournament 1994 to tournament 2003. Was not able to catch up 2004 onwards due to college life. One of the best series for me, in equal par to street fighter.

Thing is from what I read, it won't cover any of the known sagas. That is why the site from the link I place call this movie another epic failure along with the DB movie.

While in the US they view Mortal Kombat as Street Fighter's rival, in Japan they see it is SNK as they barely know Mortal Kombat they can't relate it as a rival to SF; and they have already have their games.

Sh*t! it's like making a dbz movie without krillin! How will they explain the EPIC rivalry between kyo and Iori? the existence of major characters like K', Bloodriot Iori, K999 and Kuala? 10 years of epic saga all down the drain? What are they going to do, put all the characters in a highschool campus and assume the character will get to know everybody as the story progresses? Oh wait, they did that to Dragonball...
DAMN! First, Street fighter, then DBZ, then this?! What will they do next?
Starcraft? Yuyu Hakusho? Tekken? (oh wait, they planning to do the same on tekken)

Why are some of the fans disappointed?
Basically they made a great-looking game and used that to explain the rather low number of characters.This game will not have a storyline and that's the most disappointing thing for me. That can not even be explained.
It's like:"Here, enjoy it you fools, you should be thankful...yes, even for this."
Now about the look of one character (I know that somebody will find this trivial but it's something that's really important to me).
What they did to Ralf?! They made him look bigger and bigger (fatter and fatter) over the years, but this is just ridiculous. I mean- that's just disproportional!
Oh, yes, and Athena looks even younger.
(And Leona has ugly pants XD, but that's just a small detail so...)

The last three characters that they decided to put in the game are:Clark, Duo Lon and Joe. Now, I'm happy that they decided to put Joe, but I expected to see at least one female character and SNK showed me that my predictions were wrong about that too.

As for the upcoming movie. Guess what - yes, it will be a disaster.
The story is as bad as in the High School Musical Z.

I don't know...Honestly, I won't mind seeing him in a new outfit, but in the same time there is something about that old one...it'll be hard for the fans to get used to the new one.

Here we see in the middle Ray Park playing bad guy Rugal, it totally sucks as he isn't a thing like Rugal! And while the actresses aren't ugly, they look in no way like Rugal's henchwomen, Mature and Vice! Compare them with the real deals.


And they totally raped Mai Shiranui and not in a good hentai way! This is Mai Shiranui as she is for the games.

They made her look like an ugly whore!!!!! Even a cosplayer looks more like Mai, like this:


Just like Chatfail did with Goku by totally making him out of character, they are making Mai out of character as she is sexy yet cute and cheerful and fun! And since when Mai uses swords????!!!! Guess they believed using fans as weapons isn't "realistic" so they made her an ugly tasteless whore with a sword.

To summarize:


This is another movie to boycott. Really! No money to crappy products like these!

On the bright side though, the new King of Fighters game looks great.

I always believed that only Peter Jackson could properly take KOF into film as there are a lot of characters, but by making first prequels to KOF movies with some Fatal Fury and Art Of Fighting films.

Stupid Ray Park is overrated, can't believe they casted him for Rugal. Does he even know how Rugal looks? Maybe he will pull a James Marsters from this. lol at Park thinking he looks intimidating like that! Actor Enrique Rocha would be a better Rugal, just replace him with a stunt for fight scenes or CGI stunt. Here is he:


I have a bad taste in my mouth from that ugly ho of Maggie Q. They think that we guys are crazy homormone driven men that will see any skanky whore with weapons, just as they did with the Dead Or Alive movie by placing ugly whores posing as if they were sexy. Maggie Q sucks, there are a million hoter girls in asia, but she and Zhang Ziyi are the only ones they know, well at least she IS asian not like effin Lana Lang as Chun Li.

KOF should be done in Hong Kong, directed by Andrew Lau who did some of the best Martial Arts manhua adaptations, Storm Riders and Man Called Hero, and there are so many actors in Hong Kong who look just like KOF characters AND some of them even know real martial arts.

Nicolas Tse would be the best Kyo, he is handsome, and is the student of Jackie Chan so has real Kung Fu.

Besides KOF is inmesely popular in HK the manhua has been published in there for ages, and the artwork done by some of the best artists there, is probably as big as it is in Japan or bigger.

And as you said, KOF is not even popular in the states, so what do they care, it is much more popular in mexico and everyone will hate it there.

Oh and I agree Enrique Rocha would be a much better Rugal and his voice is awsome.

and by the way those Maggie Q´s photos are not from the movie, they where from a shoot she did for Maxim or one of those magazines at least five years ago, and the one in Qipao (the chinese dress) is from a very crapy movie called Balls of Fury.

If acording to this movie they can travel across dimentions, I hope the real Iori comes to our dimension and faces the producers.

I mean, I'm not a KOF fan, the only game I've got with characters from the series is Capcom vs SNK 2, but I still think this is disgusting. That ugly ass man, sorry I mean lady, is NO Mai! Especially not after that amazing Mai picture in black and white posted a few posts back *saves picture quickly*. And everytime I see a cosplayer that looks more like the character than the official live action film version, thats when you know you gotta start worrying.
