I've tried listining to rap many times and giving it a chance, but it just makes me feel really tense and stressed out, gives me a headache, and I can't enjoy it.

I like rock and some techno and j-pop. but mostly rock. Many dif kinds of rock. and alot of the rock I like is from the 90's, also old stuff like beatles and black sabbath and the ramones is good too.

now i only have one thing to say to u JR, how can you not see the similarity in rap and rock in terms of its spectrum, they can both go from overly aggressive/exciting to chilled out and relaxed? and why would one make you tense and give you a headache if the other doesnt?

i think a lot of people really dont know the history of music. not to get racial but this is just how it was, black people created ragtime, which then became rock and blues, which then spread out to include jazz and pop and spread out even more to include lots more than that. rap is just a recreation of all those things, including modern day classics that get recycled faster and faster to create new things like how grime came to be in britain.

but whatever, i guess im the only musically-historic conscious person within my reach

I'm sorry I know about the history of it (can't remember where I learned it, but I knew all that stuff about how it came to be) but I dunno it just isn't my cup of tea. People have different tastes. Like, I LOVE Naruto, but everyone else here hates it. My favorite food is crap legs but I know lots of people who refuse to eat any seafood. Everyone is different and likes different things.
