Who would had been a beter director for DB live action movie
Of course by now, the people in this forum know that James Wong is a hack alongside Uwe Boll, Michael Bay, Martin Brest and Vondie Curtis-Hall. And that Vegeta_DTX is against the idea in general but who would had bee better to direct? Dragon Ball needed a visionary director, and these are my picks:
Guillermo Del Toro: Trully one of the best directors in current times for his creative designs. Knows how to blend fantasy with reality as seen in Pan's Labrynth, and managed to place loads of creatures in Hellboy 2 without looking cheesy.
Shusuke Kaneko: Came to fame when he brought back to life the giant turtle Gamera, made Godzilla into a supernatural monster, directed Azumi 2 and the first 2 DeathNote live action films.
Hideaki Anno: Creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, has directed deep films and the live action Cutey Honey movie.
Tim Burton: A true visionary, his style may be odd for DB but he really is a visionary.
Shunji Iwai: Has made beautiful and deep films, and is a close friend of Hideaki Anno.
Lexi Alexander: She was an undefeated martial artist, and is a great new film maker, very underated.
Sitare Yildirim: Plans to do a live action Clementine movie, and already said no to James Wong.
Shinji Higuchi: A SFX master from Japan, and has directed various films. Also a close friend of Hideaki Anno.
Peter Jackson: Of course he jumped to fame when doing the LOTR movies, because of that, everyone wants him now to direct their dream projects.
Henry Selick: Most known for directing animation, but is influenced by Tim Burton so is also a visionary.
Tetsuya Nomura: Directed the Final Fantasy Advent Children film, he would be the guy for a CGI DB movie.
Christopher Gans: Brotherhood of the Wolves was great, has done a live action film of the manga Crying Freeman and Silent Hill has to be the best live action film adaption of a videogame.
Zack Snyder: Perhaps the best new director currently. Has done 300 and we will soon his Watchmen film which promises a lot.
But the one who could had been the best director for Dragon Ball, would had been:
Akira Kurosawa: Considered the best film director ever, and as he was japanese, would had nailed DB perfectly.

Tim Burton (Just LOOK at his films!)
Akira Kurosawa (I've never seen one of his films, but I know he's critically acclaimed, he would have been great to direct, I'm sure! And as Tlaloc said, he's Japanese!)
Tetsuya Nomura (Just look at the fight scenes in Advent Children and tell me he wouldn't be a fantastic choice to direct!)
And I wonder what James Cameron would be able to do...

id even take either robert rodriguez or quinton teratino over james wong
and i know i spelled their names wrong but fuck it im trying to make a point
planet terror was fucking awesome and the kill bill movies were fucking cool as hell
what good movie has james bong ever done
i cant remember so he must not have done ANY good movie and i actually had to hit shift to make that point clear XD
then again robert and quinton wouldnt be such good choices
especially quinton after his shit movie death proof

Re: Who would had been a beter director for DB live action movie
I really don't like Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino does not do fiction and Rodriguez may had ended up doing DB as Spy Kids.
And the reason I placed Akira Kurosawa as the one who could had been the best director, is because he is dead.

Miyazaki might do it good...maybe...not sure if it's really a film he would be able to excell in, though

I'm not very good with director names, or even actor names. But Tim Burton would do a GREAT job.

Re: Who would had been a beter director for DB live action movie
Burton would be great! He's one of my favorite directors! Sure he would have to change a few things, but they would be minor at best. At least he wouldn't put Goku in high school and the angsty emo's club. At least he wouldn't cover Piccolo's arms to cover up the stinginess and laziness for not even trying with the character's unique arms. At least he wouldn't totally wreck Dragonball!

No, he doesn't get high; he is high.
Also problem is that Miyazaki has never done live action.

Yeah, it was better in the 80's and 90's. There was also the short lived Smurfs cereal, it rocked! Fruity Pebbles right now is the best, even some generic ceral can beat Trix.
