Is Dragon Ball unfilmable?
In all the previous attempts to bring Watchmen to the big screen, Terry Gilliam considered it to be unflimable.
Now Watchmen has been done in a proper way (not perfect from my p.o.v.) unlike Dragon Ball which turned into something totally irrelative to the original work, so does this mean Dragon Ball is unfilmable?
I've got inspiration from this imdb.com thread:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1098327/board/thread/134105933?d=134105933&p=1#134105933

It would take a truly creative team of individuals, director, writer, crew to bring this film to life. If it's film we're talking about, then I don't think anything is impossible.

For me personally it will always be unFILMable, that considers being a live action and being done by Hollywood.
If Japanese do it with CGI, while staying absolutely true to the concept, story and artstyle, then yes, but then thats not FILM, but ANIMATED FILM

Re: Is Dragon Ball unfilmable?
NO. I think it is not unfilmable.
The story of dragon ball is such that any good director who is genuinely excited by the story will really make a good film out of it.
Well, thats not to say that he will make exactly the same story as the original dragon ball...

I won't say it's impossible, but it would prove to be very difficult. You would want to make a good adaptation but on the other hand you would be concerned about how much money will it earn.

Re: Is Dragon Ball unfilmable?
I think that is a possible thing to do!!! They only have to follow the anime origins and remove the cartoon typicall stuff from it (its a live action, it can not have talking animals or capsules..etc)
the sayans story, the sci-fi elements, godlike action, amazing characters (and actors..lol) + good director = Oscar movie

Of course it is. One thing I will always disagree with on DTX is the capacity of the film industry to do it right. However, the capitalism of recent years makes a LAM adaptation of something as grand as Dragon Ball impossible.

What are you talking about? You can have talking animals. Lots of live action movies have talking animals like Narnia, Golden Compass, Cats and Dogs, Underdog live action movie. Just put Dragonball in the sci-fi/fantasy adventure genre. You could have capsules in it. So, I think its possible.

Re: Is Dragon Ball unfilmable?
It's possible, yes, but you'll need a shit load of money. It's no good making a dragonball movie to start off your career, you'll have to be rich before you even starts. The movie would require A LOT of special effect, and likely a ton of matrix style stuff.
It CAN be down, even the talking animals are possible as shown in others such as Garfeild, Underdog, etc. Now having animals standing on their hind legs and walking around like people, well I'll agree that's not happening. But making animals look like their talking is more then possible.
Bottom line, you'll need a fortune to create a proper dragonball/Z/GT movie, and for that reason, you'll probably never see one.
Is it possible, fuck yes. Will it happen, hell no.

I do not like to see animal talking in a live action movies...
in the animes its cool... but for me (only my oppinion), in the movies, it do not work!! how can i say this... to childish and fantastic??
For me a db live action must be made in a darker version, without comedy (ok, just a litle..lol, BUT without cliche jokes ) or cartoon stuff... a decent movie with the true sayans story and the DB unique and original characters!!
i just saw X-men: (Wolverine) Origins!!! I thought it was awesome (ps: i only saw a few cartoon episodes so i do not know if the movie have the cartoon origins )... Seriously.. they can make such great movie like that.. a decent and a serious movie!!! why they do not did the same to DB???? im so pissed

Re: Is Dragon Ball unfilmable?
Ins- Good action, good story, good actors, talened [and rich] directors, best CGI, investment=more than the profit of spiderman 3.
Outs-Original characters, talking characters, Wong, Hollywood, bad story, no relation to DB.
