Anime recommendations

Lucky Star is funny mostly because of the references. If you're an avid anime watcher, its full of easter eggs and mentions of really really old anime series.

Speaking of old series, I'd recommend this:

Hah, last year I was avidly trying to find Phoenix, Black Jack, and Cutey honey to download, and I never could. I recently found a website to watch Black Jack, but there's 3 different series of it...There's one just called Black Jack, an OVA, and another called Black Jack 21. Which is the best? Also, I read the manga and it's awesomesauce.

They usually have everything. I personally use TT, but BT are awesome as well.

I personally am NOT downloading, but buying these. Particularly Black Jack and Phoenix. Its hard to find them though, so I have to order them out every so often (not made of money)

Cutey Honey I'm not sure. I haven't gotten around to it, but it is THE precursor to Mahou Shoujo, so I need to get around to it eventually, I'm just split between buying the original series, the original manga, or downloading. It's a long list of volumes

I can't download anymore, mah laptop esploded, so I'm using mom's. I just watch stuff online w/o downloading

The OVA's are made from the manga

The first TV series is also based on the manga. The 2006 movie is anime only content
And Black Jack 21 is adapted from stand alone chapters and seems to feature a unique storyline

But I think this is mostly like the case of Tetsuwan Birdy (Birdy the Mighty)
Everything is pretty awesome, so watch everything

I just finished Cowboy Bebop. I...I just got something in my eye, ok?
God, what a masterpiece. Everything was just great; the characters, the plot, the dialogue, the animation, the dub, the music, oh lawdy the music. That ending was sad, but so great. I wish I watched the show sooner, it was so amazing.


Also! I'm working on that squid girl anime I mentioned, it's called "Shinryaku! Ika Musume" and it's...basically an anime of moe-fied version of invader zim. Just make zim a much happier and friendlier squid girl instead of an angry alien boy and replace the gross parts of the show with cute parts, and bam, there's Shinryaku! Ika Musume. It's actually very good, and funny. Reminds me a bit of Azumanga Daioh. In fact, it comes the closest in tone and feel to Azumanga Daioh than any other anime I've seen, it's just a tab bit more hyper. Also, it gets like, 100000 points for having a main character with TENTACLES for hair and having like, no bad perverted jokes, or at least none regarding the tentacles.


Also! Me and my mom have been watching an anime called Mushi-shi on netflix, that's really good too. It's usually really calming, but sometimes it's sad. Really beautiful though. It's about these litttle spirit things called Mushi and this guy named Ginko that knows all about mushi and helps people.

I so agree with you about Cowboy Bebop, I mean at least the animated movie, cause I didn't finish watching series(which were also awesome), it was really long ago....hmmm I might start watching series again if the time allows me.

The animated movie really had an amazing feel to it, really original in so many ways. It's funny, inspiring, it has original artstyle, amazing animation(motion), dub was very nice(I watched the English one), music was great etc.

I am so glad they didn't make that expected CB movie, cause even if it was the best LAM adaptation ever, I am sure it would still be not even close to the anime version.

yeah, the fluidity of the motion is really great. Oh! And the diversity! The show and the movie both show a lot of different kinds of people and cultures, it's really cool!

yeah, the LAM probably wouldn't have been terrible, Cowboy bebop has kind of a western feel to it and Keanu reeves would have played spike, and apparently he's a huge fan of the show. But yeah, it would never come close to the original.

Yeah I agree that LAM wouldn't be terrible, as its kinda more realistic than DBZ, SF and all these bad LAM adaptations lately. But I'm sure never even close to original.

And for some reason I bet my favorite CB character is your favorite too - Edward! Yeah a bit weird name for a girl, but that character got to be one of the most nuts characters I've ever seen....absolutely crazy!

I got through A LOT of anime in the last two or so months, and it was all good~

Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Don't judge this by how it looks! Yeah, it looks like another girly magical girl anime like sailor moon, but it's actually really interesting. And dark. My god does it get dark. And awesome. I can't really say much about the plot without spoiling stuff, but trust me, it's worth watching. It takes an episode or two to get good, but man does it get good.

Oh my god. Why did I not watch this sooner? It was so cool~ A real classic! I guess I kinda avoided it because I assumed it was gonna be another show with some dark, angsty brooding bishie of a protagonist that ran around killing millions like it was no big deal because he was the "good guy". I have no problem with gore, but it kinda feels unrealistic to me. Anyway, I was completely wrong! Vash was so kind and cheerful, though later on you get to see some of his other emotions, yet he still keeps smiling. And wow was I wrong about the whole killing thing, his biggest virtue was that killing is wrong, and no one has the right to take the life of another. Vash is the most impressive thing about the show, he's a very interesting character, and he's really likable. Such a great show~


Durarara!
This one's pure awesome, too. There's a lot of layers to everything that happens, and when it all comes together and you see the full picture, it's great. It has some neat characters, Celty is the coolest. But I hate Izaya. Haaaaaate. But that's probably the point...Anyway, it's a crazy-cool ride, I had a lot of fun watching it.


Black★Rock Shooter
This is a really cool OVA. If you plan on watching it, you have to watch this music video first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLzOrik5YJ8. The OVA is cool, it kinda switches between showing present and "future" events to create an interesting contrast. The animation is also really cool and striking. Will there be more? The story doesn't exactly feel complete to me, and I'd really like to see a continuation or sequel.

Well, that's all for now. I'm currently watching Samurai 7, it's really cool too, I'll post more about it after I finish.
