lol, that reminds like my sister when she was a kid. I got Silver, my brother got Gold, and my sister got Crystal.
It didn't become a trend. Years later, I got Sapphire, my brother got Ruby, then my sister stole both games and gave my brother's and my GBA to a friend so I had to re-catch all the legendaries to transfer to Diamond.
Speaking of which, then my brother got Diamond, my sister stole that as well, then I took it back (after consulting with my brother, of course) and started my own game. I've been getting him and myself a bunch of legendaries for Black and White, lol!

So Pokemon actually came out Japan a few days ago. Websites like Serebii actually had the designs for most of all of them, but Nintendo of America ordered a cease and desist.
